Record on top of playing turntable

Many years ago, I downloaded a bootleg collection of mp3 files that made up this MTV Unplugged performance from The Cranberries. I was pleasantly surprised to see it officially released.

Anyone who knows my music taste will know I'm absolutely in love with the MTV Unplugged series. The series' approach to stripping amazing works of music into such a raw and revealing format has led to some of the greatest live performances of all time, in my opinion.

The Cranberries are no different. One of the few acts to have had the pleasure of performing both for MTV Unplugged as well as NPR Tiny Desk, this 1995 recording has that exact feeling that MTV Unplugged is about.

Pieces of this performance were available, such as the bootleg I mentioned earlier, but also official releases such as the 2020 Remaster of No Need To Argue which included "Yesterday's Gone" from this performance, or the performance of Zombie on the When You're Gone • Free To Decide single.

I was always curious why there wasn't an official release. The performance was fantastic and the bootleg release I had was very rough in terms of mixed. This new release is very well mixed and mastered.

I'm very happy to have it in my collection!
